Android Boxing App Reviews: What Play Store Users Are Saying
When the Shadow Boxing App launched on Android a few months ago, we had one big worry: would Android users like it as much as iOS users do? The iOS version had years of reviews and feedback behind it. The Android version was starting from zero. Well, the first wave of Play Store reviews is in, and we want to share a few of them, partly because we’re proud, and partly because they say more about the app than any marketing copy we could write.
The reviews, and our reactions
These are real reviews from the Play Store, quoted as they were written. We picked the ones that touch on different parts of the app, and we’ll react to each one.
Learning the basics with this app is magic and you even feel like a real boxer 😅😁
Legend Arcane
This is exactly the feeling we’re going for. Boxing has a reputation for being intimidating to start, and a big part of the app’s job is making the first steps feel doable. If the basics feel like magic instead of homework, we did our job. If you’re in the same spot as this reviewer, learning boxing with an app is a real path, not a gimmick.
A very good app for working out at home during periods when the gym is closed.
Yann P.
Short and to the point. The app was born from this exact situation: gyms close, schedules change, life gets in the way, and your training shouldn’t stop because of it. Whether the gym is closed for a holiday or you simply can’t make it across town, a phone and a bit of floor space are enough.
excellent dream app and it helps also if you don’t have a mate or you workout only at home. I have experience of more than 2 years and it helps me like there’s a coach arround me.
Youssef E.
“Like there’s a coach around me” might be our favorite line in this whole batch. The callouts, the pacing, the coach demonstrating each technique on video: all of it exists so you’re never just staring at a timer wondering what to do next. And it means a lot coming from someone with two years of experience, since the app isn’t only for complete beginners.
This app helped me a lot on how to box my stance and how to stay consistent with offense and defense. I recommend using this app, I use this app every day.
Jade P.
Every day. That’s the part that gets us. Stance, offense, defense: those are the fundamentals, and they only stick with repetition. The app is built to make daily training easy to show up for, with goals, streaks, and training reminders on Android to back that up.
It’s great. Gives you trials in 101 before you decide whether you want to do premium or not. It’s a workout while learning a new skill that I can do at home, so it’s more interesting that regular calisthenics. Very cool.
Paul NM.
The “101” here is Boxing 101, our beginner program, and this review describes our free tier philosophy better than we usually do. You get real training for free, enough to actually learn and decide for yourself whether premium is worth it. No ads, no tricks. And the point about it being more interesting than regular calisthenics is one we hear a lot: you’re getting a workout, but you’re also building a skill, and that’s what keeps people coming back.
Great app! I use it every week with the bag I have set up in my garage. I’m a big fan of the HIIT workouts, but I also sometimes try easier ones.
Liffy A.
A bag in the garage and a weekly habit: that’s the setup we love to hear about. The heavy bag exercises and the HIIT sessions are some of the most demanding content in the app, so the fact that this reviewer mixes in easier sessions too is exactly how it’s meant to be used. Hard days, easy days, and the app has both covered.
Thank you
To everyone who took the time to leave a review: thank you. We’re a small independent team, and Play Store reviews do two things for us. They tell us what’s working and what isn’t, and they help other people find the app in a store full of options. A few honest sentences from a real user carry more weight than anything we could say about ourselves.
The Android app is also still getting better every month. Since launch we’ve closed almost every gap with the iOS version, and we’ve been open about wanting to build the best Android boxing app out there. Reviews like these tell us we’re heading in the right direction.
If you’re on Android and haven’t tried it yet, the Shadow Boxing App is free to download on the Play Store, and as these reviewers said, you get plenty of training before deciding whether premium is for you. And if you’re already using it and enjoying it, a review helps us more than you’d think.
