Quick Start Is Now on Android
One of the last big iOS-only pieces of the Shadow Boxing App is now on Android. Quick start, the feature that generates a full session from a few quick parameters, is live in the latest Android update.
A quick reminder of what it does
Instead of browsing the catalogue and picking a workout, you answer a couple of questions and the app generates a session for you. Shadow boxing, jump rope, heavy bag, strength and cardio, all in the pool. Flip the equipment toggles and the exercise mix shifts accordingly. The whole setup takes about thirty seconds.
We wrote about the bag-focused angle of this when it shipped on iOS: the fastest way to start a punching bag workout walks through what a generated session looks like when you turn the heavy bag toggle on. Same idea on Android, with the rest of the pool available too.
On Android, you launch it from the orange QUICK START button on the home screen.
What you pick
The configuration screen on Android keeps it short. You pick a duration, you choose how technical you want the session (Simple if you want to keep things clean, more variety if you want the app to throw the whole catalogue at you), you pick an intensity, and you toggle whether you have a jump rope or a heavy bag.
That last part is the one that changes the session the most. Toggle the heavy bag on and the exercise pool shifts toward bag work. Toggle the jump rope on and rope rounds get woven into the session. Leave both off and you get pure shadow boxing.
You see the workout before you start
The app does not throw you into a session blind. Once it has generated the workout, it shows you the full plan: rounds, exercises, durations, the warmup, the recovery section, and the strength and cardio segment if one is included. If it does not look right for the day, regenerate. Once you confirm, it starts immediately.
Because the session is generated fresh each time from your inputs and your profile, you will not get the same workout twice. That is the point. Quick start is for the days when you do not want to think about what to train, you just want to wrap your hands and go.
The gap with iOS is almost closed
When the app launched on Android in May, quick start was one of the named missing features. The Android update a few weeks later brought in the combo creator, home screen recommendations, and the full technique catalogue, but quick start was still iOS-only. This release closes one of the biggest remaining gaps. The deeper performance stats are still on the list, and they are coming.
If you have not installed the app yet, you can grab the Shadow Boxing App on the Play Store. Free to download, the same free tier as on iOS, no ads.
If you already have the app on Android, update it and the quick start button will be sitting on the home screen waiting for you.
